Adding structured data for events allows ease in finding and attending events through Google Search. 

The rich results that are eligible through structured data create a more interactive and engaging experience for searches/users and can greatly impact the discovery and conversion for your event. If your organization utilizes a third party site to publish events then you will want to ensure that site it implementing structured data for rich results. What does your webpage need?

There are a few types of events that can have markup implemented, including a standard event that occurs at a physical location, an online event such as a webinar, or a mixed online and offline event. All of the aforementioned events require the same properties included on the page just in different applicable formats. 

Required Properties

  • Location – either physical address or URL
  • Name – the name of the event 
  • startDate – the date and time the event starts in ISO-8601 format

Recommended Properties

  • Description – a description of the event for users to understand its content 
  • End Date – the date and time the event ends in ISO-8601 format
  • eventAttendanceMode – whether the event is in-person, online, or mixed 
  • Image – an image used for the event 
  • Offers – event ticket type 
  • Offer Availability – if tickets are in stock or sold out 
  • offerPrice – the cost of attendance/ticket 
  • offersPriceCurrency – the currency in which the ticket price is offered
  • offersValidFrom – the date at which tickets go on sale 
  • offersURL – the page where you can buy tickets
  • organizer – the organizer organization or person that is hosting the event 
  • organizer.UR – the event hosts domain URL 
  • performer – the participants that are performing at the event
  • performer.name – the name of the performer
